May the 4th Be With Robots!

On May 4th, national Star Wars day, Searcy hosted another monthly Beat and Eats event with a unique spin on the usual food trucks and live music.

The theme was May the Fourth Be With You and galactic hairstyles, alien dogs, and droids filled the parking lot and the Robbin Stanford Hall.

Breakaway was in charge of the “Droid Cantina,” and we went all out. The empty space in the Robbin Stanford Hall turned into the Droid Cantina in the hours Breakaway 3937 spent setting up for the event. We invited three other FRC teams, 6055, 5006, and 7804. Each team brought their bot and all played together on the half field we had set up.

We also had our own FLL team, Mindsweepers, and another local team, Crossbots. We also brought our TechDayz curriculum and hundreds of kids came and learned and played with our Snap Circut kits and LEGO EV3 robots. Our “robo-sumo” game was very popular.

The Droid Cantina was packed with people for four hours straight. Breakaway was thrilled to see such an impact in the community and the positive reactions we got from kids, parents, and community leaders. We were able to spread the word about our LEGO Camp, LEGO Club, FLL teams, and FRC team. Breakaway is ready to take STEM education to every corner of Arkansas, starting with our hometown.

Thank you sponsors!
