Breakaway Camp 2018 : Create!

Team Breakaway has started off the year with our annual retreat! Our whole team went to a local summer camp for the weekend to get to know our new team members and have an orientation. We spent a lot of time in team sessions, teaching the new recruits and reminding our veterans how our team and FIRST Robotics works. The new members of our team have incredible talent, and we are looking forward to an amazing year.

Every year, our team has a theme that we focus on. This year our theme is “create.” We want to get back to the basics of why we do this and why we love it so much. In a society centered around consuming, we want the people in on Breakaway to be able to create. Solving world problems involves creating a solution. Everything that we learn and do in Breakaway from production, to CAD, to machining and assembly, we are all learning to create.

I am the new chair of Breakaway’s Chairman’s department. My department works on the essay, executive summary, and presentation that we submit to win the Chairman’s award. My department and I create the words that best describe our team and all that our team does. We have so many great ideas using our theme create for Chairman’s! We are looking forward to representing Breakaway and hope to win a regional Chairman’s.

There are so many exciting things coming to Breakaway this school year. With new people and new ideas, the possibilities are endless. Breakaway will continue to build on the legacy that has been put before us and improve upon it. Make sure to stay up to date on all the amazing things that Breakaway will be doing very soon.
